OPENING PRAYER

CALL TO WORSHIP

ONE: We cannot merely pray to you, O God, to end injustice;

MANY: For You have made a world where people must find our own path to peace, both within ourselves, and with our neighbors.

ONE: We cannot merely pray to You, O God, to end the violence;

MANY: For You have given us the resources with which to stop it, if we would only use them wisely.

ONE: We cannot merely pray to You, O God, to root out bigotry;

MANY: For You have already given us hearts with which to embrace the good found in all people, if we would only use them rightly.

ONE: We cannot merely pray to You, O God, to heal the wounded world;

MANY: For You have already given us the power to set things right, if we would only use our power justly.

ALL: So let us pray to You instead, O God, for strength, determination and courage merely to do what is right in your eyes.
