This Sunday, March 27th, Janey Curry, a member of our church and a political science professor at Santa Clara University, will lead a forum on the current crisis in Ukraine. She will address not only the war, but also the refugee crisis, and how the war could trigger a response from NATO. Janey specializes in comparative politics with an emphasis on Central and Eastern Europe, and has lived in both Poland and Ukraine. In fact, she teaches students every summer at the University of Warsaw, Poland, where she has a permanent position. Should be a good one! Hope to see you there (or online). [...]

In this forum, on Sunday, February 20, at 11:45am, Sean Everton will lead a discussion of Richard Rothstein’s book The Color of Law: A Forgotten History of How Our Government Segregated America. Rothstein argues that segregation in the United States is the byproduct of explicit government policies at the local, state, and federal levels, including those put forth by the U.S.’s more liberal presidents, such as Franklin Roosevelt. The forum will begin with an 18-minute video based on the book (Segregated by Design), and then move into a discussion of some of the highlights of the book (and video). [...]
In January, Adult Learning will host at least one, possibly two, forums on White Christian Nationalism. The first forum will be on January 9th. If there is a second, it’ll be held on the 23rd. Because of the recent increase in COVID-19 cases, we will have to move back to Zoom at least for the forum on the 9th.
