It’s not always easy to have influence on changes in the community around us, for an individual, or even a congregation. As we strive for a just and loving world, it is valuable to build relationships with other congregations so that together we can speak with a bigger voice. First Congregational Church is doing this through a community organizing project as a member of the Silicon Valley Sponsoring Committee. Along the way FCCSJ members have formed one-to-one relationships with wonderful people of differing backgrounds from all across the county.
As we build a civic organization for our neighborhoods and all of Santa Clara County, one of our accomplishments has been to bring safety improvements to the Cadillac Winchester neighborhood. Ivonn Rivera, president of the Cadillac Winchester Neighborhood Association and a leader of the Silicon Valley Sponsoring Committee, will join us to talk about how the Sponsoring Committee is making a difference.
