You may have noticed some new people coming to church here at FCCSJ and we are so happy to welcome them. When I say “we” I mean you because without exception the new folks have said they feel so warmly received by everyone. Yay!
We would like to have a new people Q&A session on May 21st, right after church, which is also Family Sunday, so it’s fine to bring kids. The Q&A session is an opportunity for you to learn more about First Congregational San Jose as well as the United Church of Christ, our denomination. If, after you learn about us you would like to become a Church Member of FCCSJ we would celebrate that during worship on June 4th, (a week after Memorial Day Weekend) and our celebration of Pride Sunday.
What’s Pride Sunday, you ask? Church Member Carla Zaccheo is putting together a short-term ministry team to celebrate LGBTQ+ Pride throughout the summer. The team is kicking it off on Sunday, June 4th, so please contact Carla Z if you would like to get on board. Carla Z is so much fun to work with!
Also, June 15-17 is the Northern California Nevada Conference Annual Gathering hosted by First Congregational Church of Palo Alto. If you have never seen the wider church in action, the Annual Gathering is a great place for that. If you would like to attend or be a church delegate, please let Moderator Howard Cohen or me know so we can give you the skinny on how to do so. You are welcome to the table of this wider church event.
Blessings on your weekend and hope to see you at church!
Reverend Carla
