House Meetings

House Meetings via Zoom are coming to FCCSJ! But what is a House Meeting?

In order for our church to connect to the greater community, we have joined a group called the Silicon Valley Sponsoring Committee, a non-partisan network of civic associations, faith-based organizations and nonprofits that come together to effect change on a larger scale than could be done alone. The group identifies shared issues affecting our communities, such as housing insecurity, mental health issues and closing the technology divide.

This is where House Meetings come in. They will help identify issues and concerns members of our congregation have that might affect not only our families, but our communities and institutions as well. Once we identify issues we are passionate about, we can work with others to find solutions.

House Meetings are small groups (6 or so people) sharing stories and experiences and developing relationships. They are not meant to be problem-solving sessions. They will have designated leaders, will last no more than an hour and will be focused on a single topic. We will be discussing the following:

We are experiencing a lot of pressures as families and communities. Can you tell a story about some of those pressures that you or the people you know and love are experiencing?

The Sponsoring Committee Ministry Team hopes you will participate and share your story to help us identify ways we as a congregation can make a real difference.
